On display on the ground floor of Readytex Art Gallery since Monday July 5th, is a special collection of artworks with the theme: Nude beauty. The naked body is a subject that that has fascinated, and always will fascinate, artists, collectors and viewers throughout the ages. We kindly invite everyone to come enjoy the collection.
A series of large new paintings by Rinaldo Klas motivated this new special display at the gallery. The artist created these new works based upon an earlier series of small paintings of nudes that he made during his Artist in Residence period at the Vermont Studio Center in the USA. In some of the new paintings Rinaldo Klas combines the female figure with animals or elements from nature, and in others he depicts a number of figures in a more abstract style. “In them I portray women and nature, but also the nature of women and the deeper significance of Being. The work can trigger everyone differently, a thought, an emotion; it depends completely on the individual.” There are also two striking artworks of Sri Irodikromo in which she uses her characteristic style to depict a nude woman. One is portrayed in a more minimalistic way and the other almost hidden beneath a more layered composition of cultural symbolisms. “In that one I started out with the symbols which I always incorporate in my work, and as I gradually started adding color, I used elements of light and shadow to subtly reveal the appearance of a woman.”
The collection also includes two beautiful nudes seen from behind, by Kenneth Flijders, a provocative artwork by Kurt Nahar, and several red and yellow nude compositions by Wilgo Vijfhoven. Showing from Kit-Ling Tjon Pian Gi is her ‘Woman artist’ series on paper, in which the woman holds her life and herself graciously in balance. Also part of the selection are artworks by René Tosari and Reinier Asmoredjo.
