Atlantic World Art Fair 2021

Readytex Art Gallery is excited to announce its participation in the upcoming first iteration of the Atlantic World Art Fair on global art platform Artsy, starting June 1^st. This collaborative effort initiated by Lisa Howie/ Black Pony Gallery, will showcase contemporary works from over 60 talented artists from the Caribbean, the Atlantic Islands and the region’s wider diasporas, represented by the following nine galleries and curatorial agencies: Black Pony Gallery (Bermuda), Frame Centre Gallery (Jamaica), Galerie Monnin (Haiti), Gallery Alma Blou (Curacao), Readytex Art Gallery (Suriname), Sour Grass (Barbados), Suzie Wong (Jamaica), Tern Gallery (Bahamas), The Olympia Gallery (Jamaica).

At Readytex Art Gallery we are eager to join forces with our colleagues in creating an online art product that flags the Atlantic World as an exciting new art market. The curatorial concept for Readytex Art Gallery’s booth at the Atlantic World Art Fair is an extension of an ongoing project and recent exhibition at our gallery, which is centered around the unique Surinamese concept of ‘Alakondre’. As such our booth will present 26 artworks by 10 visual artists whose works reflect, in one way or another, the diverse cultural community and unique way of living in their homeland Suriname. The artists represented in our 2021 booth are Reinier Asmoredjo, Sri Irodikromo, Kenneth Flijders, Kurt Nahar, Rinaldo Klas, John Lie A Fo, Dhiradj Ramsamoedj, Xavier Robles de Medina, Kit-Ling Tjon Pian Gi and René Tosari.

The Atlantic World Art Fair offers art collectors and visitors from all over the world the opportunity to explore a dynamic and under-represented region of artistic innovation. They will discover creative expressions that reflect intertwined histories, relations and cultures informed by peoples of Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe. From emerging to established artists, the Atlantic World Art Fair offers a catalogue of provocative artwork that will resonate with global collectors.
