'Sri Irodikromo takes great inspiration from the diverse and multi-cultural composition of the Surinamese population. She often portrays women in their traditional clothing, and as seen in this artwork, maroon and indigenous children are also a favorite subject. The artist is especially well-known for incorporating various cultural symbols and patterns as well as multiple art techniques including stenciling, embroidery and batik, in her paintings.'
