‘Beastly’ Thursday-Night-Feature of October
(5 Oct 2017 - 14 Oct 2017)

Thursday-Night-Feature ‘Beastly’ art

The month October makes its entry and brings with it the new school year, the celebration of World Animal Day, and of course also the new edition of the Thursday-Night-Feature (TNF) at Readytex Art Gallery on October 5th. On schedule for this month’s TNF is a casual ‘Open house’, one that we have given a bit of a ‘beastly’ character. No need to be alarmed though, because all this has to do with is this year’s upcoming World Animal Day. This day is commemorated all over the world on October 4th, the day before our TNF.

As usual the ‘Open house’ is intended to give visitors the opportunity to stroll freely through the gallery on a leisurely evening that does not involve a fixed program, just a beautiful collection of artworks put on display for this opportunity and the coming month. And because we do like to give these evenings a special character, we thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to take our inspiration from the occasion of World Animal Day. Many of the artists affiliated with our gallery already create works in which flora and fauna play an important role, so finding works of art involving animals is not a difficult feat. So on the TNF of October 5th the special ‘beastly’ selection put together by the team of Readytex Art Gallery will be presented on the ground floor of the gallery.

As is customary, the other three floors of the gallery show a mixed collection of artworks from all of the artists represented by Readytex Art Gallery.

The ‘Open house’ on Thursday October 5th in which we pay attention to World Animal Day, offers something interesting for art lovers and animal lovers alike. The team of Readytex Art Gallery and many of the artists will be present to answer any questions that you may have about the works of art.

The doors of Readytex Art Gallery are open on this evening from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Everyone is invited!

Dhiradj Ramsamoedj
In the past paintings by Dhiradj Ramsamoedj were mostly oils on canvas on which the paint was applied with a pallet knife. Now he paints mostly with a brush which results in a smooth, flat finish. The style has become less realistic and the people in his recent work have a completely different appearance. Humans still form the main theme in his work, but the faces of the characters now all have a similar, undefined shape in which the eyes, nose, mouth and other features are only hinted at subtly...

Leonnie van Eert

The artist finds her inspiration in natural forms, with nature close to home, and in the use of symbols from different cultures. Uses and forms from the Indigenous, Maroon and Javanese culture in Suriname are close to the artist who also looks across Africa, Columbia and Peru. An artwork usually comes from a sketch. The end result does not have to be the same as the sketch shows.
